About Lise
I was born in Regina and spent my early years growing up in Pense, Sask – the sweetest, most knowable 5 by 5 street rail town on the whole Canadian Prairie.
We moved to McCarthy Park in Grade 6 where I forged some of my deepest and longest lasting relationships. Like so many other northenders, I went straight to work and parlayed my way with words into a fulfilling career in communications. First as a writer, then as media personality and Saskatchewan thought leader.
I’m happily married to a boy from Humboldt, and together we have six (6!) children aged 29, 22, 13, 11, 9 and 9, with our two eldest loving life in the wilds of BC.
Why I Am Running
Our children were subjected to unprecedented change through Covid. Whether it was the disruption of routine, the hyper focus on perceived “safety”, the overwhelming push into unregulated digital spaces, or the acceleration of unproven and inappropriate concepts – nobody was asked to pivot harder or faster than our children. We’ve all faced significant challenges in the last few years, and it’s high time we take stock and correct the lingering issues our children are suffering.
Parents want a greater focus on academic achievement, and to eliminate the barriers between them and their children’s education. Students deserve to grow up free of conflict between home and school. Teachers and staff deserve to be supported, and communities want students equipped to succeed in an increasingly complex world. I’m running for Trustee because I believe our School Board can and should deliver on these vitally important priorities.
A natural collaborator, I’ll make it a priority to improve student achievement, lessen the stress load on parents and staff, honor teachers, uphold and defend parental rights, and focus on education, not activism.
Community Driven
With 55 years of cumulative experience navigating the Regina Public School education experience, I’m uniquely positioned to lead us out of a time of chaos, and into a time of success.
As the longest running guest of the John Gormley Show, I developed high-yield relationships in politics, government, local and national media, business and community which continue to this day. If I can’t solve a problem, I likely have the number of the person who can.
